File List Widget

This article aims to provide information about what a File List Widget is and what it is used for.

What does it do?

The File List Widget allows you to add a list of Drive, OneDrive, and SharePoint files and folders.

This Widget is great for when you want to provide easy and quick access to specific content.

File List Widget options

• Add file: Opens a window that allows you to choose any file or folder to display in the file list

Note: It is not possible to embed any kind of Google Shortcuts, regardless if they are documents, sheets, or slides. Embedding a Google Shortcut will lead to a 403 Error.

Functionality and accessibility

• Behavior – The File List Widget retrieves information about files directly from the file provider's (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive) API
• Permissions – The Widget relies on the access permissions granted by the file provider. It doesn't store the files themselves. Clicking the file opens it in your corresponding file provider application (e.g. Microsoft Word for a Word document)
• File List Widget vs. Folder Widget
  • File List Widget– Shows all files added to everyone, regardless of user permissions. This is because it doesn't check file-by-file access during the initial page load. Clicking a file with restricted access will result in an "Access Denied" error
  • Folder Widget – With Google Drive, access can be restricted to individual files within a shared folder. With Microsoft SharePoint, if a folder is shared, all files within that folder are visible in Happeo, regardless of individual file permissions
• User access– Users may see files in this list that they cannot access (because they have not given the necessary permissions). These files cannot be opened by the user and will be shown an error message stating that the file is unable to be loaded
